After public requests that Microsoft include a wheelchair option to better represent disabled gamers, both Xbox Boss Phil Spencer and Director of Program Management Mike Ybarra took to Twitter to respond.
After a tweet presenting the idea of a petition to get wheelchair-accessible Avatars, Phil Spencer dashed any worries by replying “No petition needed, we hear you. This is something that we’ve already looked at, not far off.” Mike Ybarra added to that tweet with the above image, showing both male and female avatars in wheelchairs sporting the Xbox flag (and some pretty cool-looking rims, if you ask me). There’s no word on a release date, however.

Additionally the avatars themselves are also interesting, as they appear to have a fresh coat of polish in their design. Could this be our first look at not only additional appearance options, but perhaps an entirely overhauled Avatar program?
