Now available via free patch for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, the new Survivor Mode introduces a few tweaks to the original game in an effort to create a more tense and unforgiving Stone Age experience. The mini-map is removed (an optional feature in the regular game), resources are now more scarce, a stamina meter has been added, tamed animals cannot be revived, and lastly, there is the option to enact perma-death.
Players seeking a reason to return to the valley of Oros may find the free update a welcome challenge. Our initial review of the Far Cry Primal praised it for its tense, gritty gameplay and beautiful open world, yet it was held back by a lack of story and replay value.
