Nostalgia running on blast processing
Sega has announced a collector’s edition for Sonic Mania, the latest 2-D entry into the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. The collector’s edition (which was revealed through the Sonic the Hedgehog twitter page) comes with a fancy box with art styled after the blue blur’s Genesis cases, a metallic collector’s card with a download key for the game attached, a combo cartridge/golden ring display piece, and a Sonic statue on a Genesis-inspired stand. The statue even plays the classic “Sega!” sound effect when the power switch is flipped.
It seems like Sega’s banking hard on nostalgia for this one-and honestly, it’s kind of working, if my Amazon account has anything to say about it. As of writing this article, the official site has crashed, but Amazon still has plenty of copies left for now.
Sonic Mania hits an EB Games near you stores and online on May 31, 2017.
