Mix of old and new talent steals the spotlight
Atlus USA, via IGN, has revealed the English dub cast of their upcoming school-life-meets-heist-movie game Persona 5. The cast includes:
Xander Mobus (Super Smash Bros. 4; Disgaea 5) as The Protagonist
Cassandra Morris (Bravely Default; Danganronpa) as Morgana
Max Mittelman (One-Punch Man; Fire Emblem Fates) as Ryuji Sakamoto
Erika Harlacher (Danganronpa; Killer Instinct) as Ann Tamaki
Matthew Mercer (Persona 4 Arena Ultimax; Overwatch) as Yusuke Kitagawa
Cherami Leigh (Sailor Moon; Sword Art Online) as Makoto Nijima
Erica Lindbeck (Barbie; Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice) as Futaba Sakura
Xanthe Huynh (Sword Art Online; Yuki Yuna is a Hero) as Haru Okumura
And Robbie Daymond (Sailor Moon; Tales of Zestiria) as Goro Akechi.
As well, Atlus USA. has released the first English dubbed trailer for the game (this one spotlighting the Protagonist) with the promise of more to come in the future. Alongside the announcement, IGN released an interview with Xander Mobus where he discusses his feelings on headlining the game, his experience with the other Persona/Shin Megami Tensei games, and how to pronounce Arsene (among other things).
This is honestly a really interesting cast, to say the least. Hearing the Sm4sh announcer (Mobus) go full ham should definitely be fun, and casting the voices of Barbie (Lindbeck) and Tuxedo Mask (Daymond) in a game about thieves is a pretty inspired idea. Hopefully the game utilizes its cast’s talents to their full potential.
Persona 5 makes its way into stores on February 14, 2017.
