Ever wanted to have more map variety in Overwatch, your wish might have been granted and will probably be happy to learn that the head Game Director Jee Kaplan explained on the official “Overwatch ” forums and quote.

We are extremely open-minded about releasing a map editor for Overwatch someday. But because Overwatch was made with a brand new engine, this is not a small task or one which can happen any time soon. We have this on our long-term road map and believe heavily in user-made content. But there are many challenges ahead of us and it will be a very long road before our editor can be made available to the public.

So we shouldn’t expect it for a long while but that statement brings hope. Blizzard has a good history of supporting map editors, the most recent being Starcraft II and Kaplan also said and quote

Any news on saving play of the games or highlights without having to use external programs?

Yes. This will be live before the end of summer. It’s being worked on right now.

For how there are a lot of possible things happening with Overwatch and who knows maybe at some point Overwatch might even launch on the Nintendo Switch from Kaplan.

“I’m loving the Switch! My second favorite gaming platform of all time is the 3DS. Getting OW on the Switch is very challenging for us. But we’re always open minded about exploring possible platforms.”

A lot of questions and a lot of possibilities but for now check out the new hero to the overwatch roster
