The winners of the Manila Major take home their second Major Trophy
Professional DOTA 2 team OG has won the Boston Major tournament. OG defeated several long standing teams, like former The International winners Evil Geniuses (EG), in their run up to the Grand Finals where they defeated pro DOTA newcomers Ad Finem. As Tournament winners OG will take home $1million of the tournament’s $3million prize pool.
For those unfamiliar with the scene, professional DOTA is organized around tournaments, as opposed to a league. The most popular tournaments are the DOTA Major Championships. The Majors are funded by Valve, DOTA 2’s publisher, and the fans of the game. Other tournaments, such as The Summit or DOTA Star Ladder, are held by other companies but tend to generate less buzz and have smaller prize pools than the official Major Championships.
