At the Pokemon World Championships, we were shown the new direction of the Pokemon TCG in Solgaleo GX and Lunala GX, a new type of card never been revealed before. Releasing in early 2017, these cards will feature GX moves, which can only be used once per match. In what looks to be some game changing moves, it seems just Solgaleo and Lunala GX alone will shake up the Pokemon TCG metagame as we know it.

Solgaleo GX’s special move is Sol Burst GX, which allows you to search through your deck for 5 energy cards (notice how it doesn’t say “basic” energy cards) and attach them to your Pokemon. These will allow Pokemon that have high energy costs, or require more energy to do increasing damage to shine in the coming format.

Lunala GX’s special move is Lunar Fall GX, which says to knock out a Basic Pokemon that is not a Pokemon GX. This can be extremely helpful for a particularly pesky Pokemon, or that Shaymin EX you can KO to secure those last two prizes and win the game!

These Pokemon cards are clearly unfinished, as they don’t have their energy cost or HP yet, but we definitely should see more of them in the coming months.

What do you think of the new GX cards? Good? Bad? Toxic? Let us know in the comments, and we’ll give you more information as it comes!
