One Journey. Many Paths.

More than three years after the original, the official release trailer for Life is Strange 2 has dropped and with it some tantalising titbits about what the sequel will have in store. You can watch the video below, and Square Enix’s blog post with further details is right here.

We already knew that Life is Strange 2 would take place in the same universe as the first game, but that it would be leaving Max and Chloe in the pleasant seaside landscape/horrific devastated ruins—delete as appropriate—of Arcadia Bay. We now know that the two protagonists are brothers: Sean and Daniel Diaz. Following what is described in the blog post as a ‘tragic event’, the brothers find themselves ‘on the run from the police and threatened with both separation and incarnation’.

We will also be seeing ‘a new power’. From the trailer, this looks to be some kind of kinetic blast with sufficient force to flip a cop car, but we will hear more about this at a later date: perhaps at Gamescom, where attendees will be able to play the opening scene for themselves.

For the time being, all we can do is speculate wildly, over-analyse the trailer, and play The Adventures of Captain Spirit in a desperate search for more hints. (For more about that free-to-play gem, click here.)

The release date for episode one of Life is Strange 2 is September 27th. I, for one, am hella excited.

Come on, I had to.
