Netflix is producing a TV series based on the Castlevania series of games. The news was first reported on io9 who found a listing for the new series in a Netflix press release. The io9 report was shortly followed by a Facebook post from the director of the new series, Adi Shankar. Shankar is best known for a recent violent, gritty, Power Rangers Short.
Shankar’s post confirmed the report that two seasons of the Castlevania series are in production and that the writer of the series was Warren Ellis. Slashfilm has also linked Adventure Time producer, Fred Seibert, to the Castlevania project. Earlier, Shankar linked himself to a Castlevania project but this is the first news of where the series will air.
The new series about the Belmont clan of vampire hunters and their quest to kill Dracula is slated for a 2017 release for the first season with the second airing in 2018.
