Winner: Injustice 2

Confusion was in the air at the announcement of Prey. The game was described as a “re-imagining” of the original title from 2006. The name is the largest similarity between the two. Set in 2032 out in space, Prey has transformed into a psychological horror game that will have players wondering what is real. It sports an open-environment world that can be explored to the player’s content. Follow the objective point, or take a side journey to find items and discover the bits of story hidden away in emails and audio logs. Do all this while fending off against the aliens that have taken over. Just make sure to befriend the quick save feature.
Honorable Mention: Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
A remake of the second game in the Fire Emblem franchise, Fire Emblem Gaiden, Echoes offers a new and unique experience. For fans located outside of Japan, it will be a first time experience with the story. Echoes adds and changes elements that make this title stand out. One example is Mila’s Turnwheel, an item that will rewind back a turn. For anyone playing on classic mode, it offers a lifeline that doesn’t require restarting the game and the battle to save a character. Another example is free-roaming dungeons to explore. Having the ability to run free within a 3D environment, not limited to a grid plane, is an astounding addition. Capped with an intriguing story and interesting characters to get to know, Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia is a worthy addition to the franchise and a memorable experience for players.
