Over 100 games to be available through the new subscription service.

Microsoft announced a new game subscription service today, called XBOX Game Pass. The announcement comes from Phil Spencer, Head of XBOX at Microsoft, via a post on the Major Nelson Blog The new service will cost $9.99 per month and allow players access to over 100 XBOX One and XBOX 360 Backwards compatible games. Titles accessed through XBOX Game Pass will be fully downloaded, as opposed to Sony’s Playstation Now service which is streaming based. Games available in the service will cycle in and out on a monthly basis but the post does not state what will happen to downloaded games when they cycle out of the service.

Four games for the service were already announced: Halo 5: Guardians, Payday 2, NBA 2K16, and Soul Caliber II. In addition to these games the following publishers were announced as program partners:
