Making a wonderful dream a reality

After almost a year in development, the day has finally arrived: Pokémon Go is now available on Apple and Android devices. The app, which sprung from an April Fool’s collaboration between Nintendo, The Pokémon Company, and Google in 2013 that allowed players to “catch” Pokémon in the real world using Google Maps, was officially announced back in September 2015. After a leak spread like wildfire during the early stages of the app’s rollout in July 2016, the official app was released worldwide on July 6, 2016. The app allows players to catch and train Pokémon using their phone’s camera, utilizing augmented reality features not unlike those on the Nintendo 3DS to integrate the Pokémon into the real world. Players can explore their neighborhoods to discover more Pokémon and even challenge other trainers at Gyms throughout the world to show that they’re the very best, like no-one ever was.

After 20 years, the world of Pokemon is right outside your window. Isn’t technology incredible?
