Oculus’ head of “computer vision”, Dov Katz, was arrested on charges of “commercial sexual abuse of a minor” according to Seattle Based NBC affiliate King 5. The VR developer allegedly solicited sex from what he believed was a fifteen year old prostitute according to charging documents obtained by Geekwire. The documents contain text message conversations between Katz and an undercover officer of the Tukwila Washington Police Department posing as an underage prostitute. Conversations included arrangements for buying condoms, the number needed for the encounter, and whether the girl would consent to unprotected sex.  At his arrest Katz stated he was attempting to “rescue her and call the police”.
Polygon has reached out to Oculus and the Tukwila Police for comment on this story but  neither has replied at the time of this publication.
