EA has announced the second game to be a part of EA Originals (EA’s effort to showcase more independent developers), Sea of Solitude. The game is being developed by Cornelia Geppert and her team at Jo-Mei Games, based out of Berlin. The game follows Kay as she explores the Sea of Solitude, facing off against not only the enemies around her, but also against something far more dangerous.
Geppert describes the game, saying “Sea of Solitude is by far the most artistic and personal project I’ve ever created. At times it is very challenging to dig that deep into your own feelings like core fears, longing and anger, but at the same time it is the most fulfilling thing to express those very feelings by putting it to people through art.”
Sea of Solitude is the second game to be a part of EA Originals, coming after Fe. Personally, I’m a huge fan of such a giant publisher making strides to bring more unique, artistic games to the mainstream. Gaming has evolved into quite an effective artform, as games like Inside and Pneuma: Breath of Life have proven, and it’s important that games keep evolving and maturing as a medium and as an industry.
Be sure to look out for more details for Sea of Solitude in the coming months!
