The Anthology Comes With Both Full Games And All Add-On Content
Rocksteady’s two Batman games, Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, will both be remastered for current-gen consoles. A Gamestop employee sent unannounced images of “Batman HD Collection” to Eurogamer. The bundle is said to have both games, as well as all additional content. This matches with an earlier report in March of 2015.
Batman: Arkham Origins, which was developed by WB Games Montreal, will not be included in the bundle. Generally viewed as lesser quality than the Rocksteady masterpieces, few are likely to be saddened by the absence of Origins.
Eurogamer reports that the collection will go on sale June 10th, with preorders opening on April 19th.
Arkham Asylum and Arkham City were both met with near unanimous praise from both critics and players. GameSpot’s Arkham Asylum review states: “Everything about this game–the impressive visuals, stirring soundtrack, superb voice acting, fiendish puzzles, hard-hitting combat–feels like it has been lovingly crafted by a development team that’s both knowledgeable and passionate about the source material. Miss out on this one and the joke’s on you.”
The latest Batman game was Arkham Knight, which we gave an 80 percent in our review. Writer Dakota explains: “While the core mechanics and gameplay content left me wanting much more, the artistic and narrative quality elevate what would have been just an okay game to a pretty good one. It did feel like the gameplay got second-fiddle to the narrative, though. Moving forward, Rocksteady must not allow gameplay to be an afterthought. This game is good, but it could have been one of the greats.”
